Who Lauren Rowe, Woman On a Nanny Video? Case Update, Victims Age, Parents & Viral Nanny Cam Video Exposed

Lauren Rowe, the New Bern woman caught on a nanny video that went viral, was in court Monday, Nov. 8, for a misdemeanor child abuse charge. She faces up to 150 days in jail for the offense. she was released the same day on bond and is facing trial. 

The New Bern woman who was reportedly caught on a nanny cam for alleged child abuse was in court Monday and could face jail time.

New Bern babysitter Lauren Rowe was arrested by the authorities based on a social media video shared by the father of the victim, in the video, she was seen pulling the two-year-old’s arm back and forcing him to eat pot pie as reported by Sun Journal.

The Oglesby’s posted the viral video on Facebook, Oct. 27 which has been shared more than 6,600 times, showing the alleged abuse to warn others of the incident so it will not happen to them.

Max Oglesby explained the contents of the recording, which shows Rowe pulling his son’s arms back, forcing him to eat a pot pie.

The video eventually led to Rowe’s arrest on Oct. 27, and she posted her $2,500 bond the same day.

Lauren Rowe, had her first appearance Monday, Nov. 8, in Craven County Court for a misdemeanor child abuse charge. Judge Bob Cherry said Rowe faces up to 150 days in jail for the misdemeanor.

The judge ordered the clerk to make two changes in Rowe’s case and he would review them before signing.

Rowe is to not babysit or be unsupervised with children under the age of 16 during the duration of the case. The second was that no contact is to be made with the victim, the 2-year-old in the video, or the victim’s family.

The parents, Max and Laura Oglesby, of the child also attended Rowe’s first appearance Monday.

Rowe’s attorney, Lee Bettis, additionally asked Cherry that the nanny cam video, which has thousands of views, to be taken off of social media.

“It’s causing all sorts of death threats from my client,” Bettis said in court. “She’s getting death threats from everywhere.”

He asked for the video to be taken down based on violation of his client’s rights and the laws of North Carolina.

Cherry said without giving the state notice, there cannot be a hearing based on that request until proper notice is given. The judge did advise that Rowe should not respond to any of the comments on social media.

“I would advise somebody that it might not be the smartest thing to have that out there and have a trial in the media,” Cherry said.

Rowe’s next court date is scheduled for Jan. 11.
