Senior Presidential Advisor on the media and public relations John Nagenda has asked President Yoweri Museveni to serve out his last term and retire since the constitution bars anyone from seeking the Presidency beyond the age of 75.
President Museveni will be 77 years old by the next general elections in 2021.
While speaking to NTV in an exclusive interview, Nagenda also asked the 10th Parliament to reject any moves, if any are made to amend Article 102 (b) of the constitution that caps at 75 the age limit on Presidential contestants.
Nagenda revealed that presidential age limit amendment bill is not only bad for the National Resistance Movement but also disastrous for president Museveni to stand in 2021 citing that it’s a huge backward step in democracy.
‘’By this time these leaders should advised president Museveni to groom a successor so that by 2021 the man is retiring. These Abirigas,Enites and the Kamya are just massaging president to think that he is as holy as God. This is wrong because their intentions are to get money and ministerial posts instead of serving Ugandans to have bright future’ ’he said
He that those advising President Museveni to seek another term in 2021 are opportunists and have no love for him.
Nagenda added that every time he meets president, he advises him to retire when the country needs him as a revolutionary leader not a villain like the way other typical African dictators relinquish power.
