President Museveni is expected to visit the home of the late AIGP Andrew Kaweesi this evening to pay his respects.
Unknown assailants on Friday morning gunned down Assistant Inspector General of Police AIGP Kaweesi shortly after,his driver and body guard out of his home in Kulambiro, a Kampala suburb, which president Museveni condemned.
“Have learnt of the killing of AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi by thugs riding on motorcycles. I condemn this act in the strongest terms”, the president said.
On Saturday, hundreds of friends, workmates and relatives converged on the home of the slain former police spokesperson AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi to grieve with, and offer their condolences to, the family.
A burial programme for the late Andrew Felix Kaweesi has been announced, with his remains to be laid to rest on Tuesday, at his family home in Kyazanga, Lwengo district.
Kaweesi, his driver Godfrey Wambeewo and his bodyguard Kenneth Erau, were killed on Friday morning in a hail of bullets fired on his car by attackers who made away. The incident happened in Kulambiro suburb of Kampala.
Following this murder incident, the family of the police officer who was shot dead alongside the Police Spokesperson, Andrew Kaweesi, are also calling on the government to help them get justice by apprehending the culprits.
Relatives of the slain 34-year-old officer, Kenneth Erau, travelled from the eastern district Amuria on Satuday to take his body back home for burial.
The officers were killed Friday morning by unknown gunmen riding on motorbikes.
