President Museveni has advised government accounting officers to resist any pressure and influence from the political class.
This was during a meeting at State House, Entebbe where he met the accounting officers led by permanent secretaries.
“These officers should resist pressure from politicians. The Constitution protects them & I will back them if they are doing the right thing”, the president said.
The president added that the accounting officers are the foot soldiers in this struggle & should do everything to better the country. “A peasant population shouldn’t beget more peasants”, the president added.
“As controllers of govt money, contracts and personnel, accounting officers occupy a special place in the transformation process of Uganda”, the president said.
