Lyon’s outspoken president has completely ruled out the sale of one of their star strikers to Manchester United in the future.
The Red Devils were heavily linked with a move for former Celtic hitman Moussa Dembele over the summer, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hoping to convince the board to sanction a €45m bid.
After they failed to reach an agreement with the French club before the English deadline passed, Serie A champions Juventus entered the race for the 23-year-old, with Dembele viewed as a cheaper alternative to Mauro Icardi.
However, just as with Icardi, Juventus have found that their target’s current club are in no mood to negotiate a sale – with Man Utd’s future hopes being dented as well.
Lyon chief Jean-Michel Aulas responded to rumours of Dembele leaving on Twitter, writing: “Lyon are not interested in any offer for Dembelé. He is one of our symbols of the new project. No Manchester [United], no Juventus: it is a matter of principle, and not of price.”
