The ministry of education has appointed the director of education at Kampala Capital City Authority Juliet Namuddu care taker of Old Kampala Secondary School until the new head teacher reports for duty.

The students staged a strike on Friday morning after learning that their head teacher, Azidah Ntegane Nsubuga, was being transferred to another school.

Police rushed to the school and opened fire at the students who were vandalising school property.

John Alitaha, Nabirah Nakyanzi, Richard Malema, and Allan Semakalu were injured when police fired live bullets at them.

The school was then closed for one week on Friday after students  went on rampage destroying school property.

The Education ministry spokesperson Patrick Muyinda says the ministry has decided that Namuddu takes care of the school up to August when the new Headmaster will report to his new work station.

He says a new board should also be in place before the new head teacher comes to avoid clashes.
