Charismatic priest Fr Anthony Musaala and Fr Deogratias Sonko have been readmitted into the Catholic church — the two attended the Chrism Mass at Rubaga Cathedral and apologized for straying away from the right path

The two hitherto runaway priests attended the Chrism Mass at Rubaga Cathedral in Kampala to mark Holy Thursday.

A popular Catholic Charismatic preacher and influential gospel artiste, Musaala was suspended from the Catholic priestly ministry by the ecclesiastical tribunal of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Kampala, following disagreements between him and his superiors at Rubaga.

Later on, he decided to join the Brazilian Catholic Apostolic Church after realising that the authorities at Rubaga were not willing to let him minister again in the Church.

On his part, Ssonko walked out about two years ago at a time Rubaga saw a number of priests leaving.

“There is a time when truth, humility and reconciliation are the best way to get renewed, healed and find inner peace,” Musaala said in his letter.

“I turn to you, Your Grace the Archbishop, who has endured so many hurts from me.

“I am truly sorry.”

Meanwhile, in his letter, Ssonko struck a similar tone of repentance.

“I apologise for having left my Mother church and joined the Evangelical Othodox Church in July 2016.

“I ask all of you dear brothers and sisters to keep praying for me to hold fast to this faith which I now wholeheartedly embrace, with all thirst and zeal.”
