Members of Parliament on Tuesday questioned the education ministry officials over the reasons as to why the ministry has been operating for two years without a strategic plan.

While in the meeting between parliament’s education committee chaired by Mbale Woman MP Connie Nakayenze and the ministry officials, it come to the MP’s knowledge that the sector’s strategic plan expired in 2015.

The ministry of education officials who were led in by Ministers Janet Kataaha Museveni, John Chrysestom Muyingo the state minister for Higher Education, Rosemary Sseninde  the state minister of primary education were asked and interrogated why the ministry lacks a plan.

Akurut Violet Adome the woman MP of katakwi district tasked the ministry leaders to account for the absence of a strategic plan that is expected to guide the implementation of activities in the sector.

However, Fredrick Matyama, the commissioner for education policy and planning told the committee that the Education and Sports Sector Strategic Plan (ESSP) 2017-2020 was being developed with the final draft expected to be ready by 1st September 2017.
