News reaching us indicate that Dr. Kiiza Besigye has been arrested  at Entebbe international airport after his arrival from Nairobi and whisked away by military in a van to his home at Kansangati.

Besigye returns to the country  following one month trip to the United States and United Kingdom.

It seems Besigye is heading for another home arrest as was during and after the February elections.


Earlier on there was a heavy police deployment along Entebbe – Kampala  road to curb any violence that could erupt from his supporters .

Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, who was among several opposition leaders at the airport to receive Besigye, says that majority of the FDC dignitaries were blocked from accessing the VIP lounge, where Besigye was expected to address the media shortly after arrival. The lounge was restricted to only five people

Police spokesperson, Andrew Felix Kaweesi had earlier on cautioned forum for democratic change (FDC) supporters against staging unlawful processions, convoys, and stopovers along Entebbe road while welcoming back Rtd. Col. Dr. Kiiza Besigye.
