Police and other security agencies who through their joint investigations and intelligence gathering successfully netted a suspected serial Killer identified as Ssebulime Maphie at his residence located in Kabaale Parish, Abaita Ababiiri zone, Katabi Town Council.

Ssebulime Maphie, a known brick maker in Abaita Ababiiri was arrested in the evening hours on Monday between 4pm and 5pm by Police, flying squad cops and plain cloth Special Forces Command (SFC) soldiers who stormed his rented apartment and searched it thoroughly.

The soldiers nabbed Ssebulime with two mobile Phones that belonged to the late Sarah Nelima, the 11th victim in Katabi Town Council whose body was discovered naked and dumped in a garden in Lyamutunde village, Mpala zone a few meters away from Friends restaurant where she worked.

Kabaale Parish LC1 Chairman Mukasa Robert and the Abaita Ababiiri OC Station confirmed the arrest of Ssebulime Maphie and disclosed that he was found with several other mobile phones and sim cards though they couldn’t readily establish whether they belong to the murdered women.

“Police alongside other security agencies successfully arrested Ssebulime Maphie through intelligence led operation. He was found with two phones that belonged to the late Sarah Nelima and several other sim cards and mobile phones. Slowly by slowly and with cooperation from the locals through information sharing, we shall get the serial killers behind the women murders”, Abaita OC Station Gilbert Besigye said.

Ssebulime Maphie was whisked away to a yet to be identified detention centre by the flying squad, police and SFC soldiers.

 

Meanwhile in related development, Ivan Katongole alias Jenus a prime suspect in the murder of Rose Nakimuli appeared before the Entebbe Magistrate court and was remanded again to Kigo Prison till October 16, 2017.
