At 11:45 p.m. Thursday, Pamela Abercrombie, 49, was found on a sidewalk in the 3800 block of West Florissant Avenue. She had been shot, police said, and died at a hospital. Abercrombie lived in the 11000 block of Seabury Drive in the Spanish Lake area of St. Louis County, officers said.

St. Louis city police said Monday they plan to seek charges against Reed in the recent shooting deaths of 49-year-old Pamela Abercrombie and 24-year-old Casey Ross.

St. Louis County prosecutors said a handgun found in Reed’s possession when he was arrested matched shell casings from all three St. Louis County shootings, as well as “multiple” homicides in the city of St. Louis.

Her family says they were relieved to see someone, 25-year-old Perez Reed, arrested in this case, though they’re concerned by the way they found out.

Who Was Pamela Abercrombie?

Pamela Abercrombie, 49, was a woman who Reed had recently shot. An FBI task group apprehended him.

Hamilton says they found out about the arrest on social media, but they have questions about the case and haven’t been able to ask them to investigators.

“We felt relief, but we wanted to make sure it says the correct person because people can say that he did it, but it could be the wrong person,” Hamilton said. “We want to make sure that there is concrete evidence that he actually did it.”

Police linked Reed, a 25-year-old Bellefontaine Neighbors man, to two murders and one shooting in St. Louis City, and two murders in St. Louis County after he used the same gun to shoot all of the victims, a .40 caliber Smith & Wesson pistol, according to multiple police sources.

Meanwhile, St. Louis city police announced on Monday that they want to press charges against Reed in the recent shooting deaths of Pamela Abercrombie, 49, and Casey Ross, 24. 

Prosecutors in St. Louis County claimed a handgun found in Reed’s possession at the time of his arrest matched bullet casings from all three shootings in the county, as well as “many” homicides in the city.

Perez Deshay Reed, 25, of Bellefontaine Neighbors, was charged Saturday with two counts of first-degree murder, three counts of armed criminal action and one count of first-degree assault.

He is suspected of killing a 16-year-old girl, Marnay Haynes, on Sept. 13, and in the fatal shooting of 40-year-old Lester Robinson on Sept. 26. He is also accused of a third shooting in St. Louis County that left a person with permanent disabilities.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, citing a police affidavit filed in federal court, said Reed could be tied to at least four other homicides and additional shootings. Among them: Police are investigating if Reed killed Damon Irvin and Daja Fairrow, whose bodies were found earlier this month in an apartment complex in Kansas City, Kansas.
