FIFA has confirmed that the Club World Cup is to take place from the 1st of February 2021 in Qatar. The tournament, which was set to take place at the end of December, has been subject to delays due to COVID-19. In a brief statement, the organising body confirmed the move.
“The FIFA Club World Cup 2020 will now be held from 1 to 11 February 2021, taking place in Qatar as per the original host appointment by the FIFA Council in June 2019.
In line with FIFA’s International Match Protocol, FIFA and the host country will provide the required safeguards for the health and safety of all involved.”
This means that Champions League winners Bayern Munch will be travelling to Doha to compete in the tournament, whilst it remains to be seen who will join the Bundesliga giants from around the world.
Liverpool are the current World Club Cup Champions after defeating Flamengo of Brazil last season.
