West Bromwich Albion winger Grady Diangana has been described as a “fantastic player” by Fulham boss Scott Parker ahead of the Premier League meeting between the two sides.
The Baggies, currently 17th in the table, head to West London on Monday night hoping to get their first win of the season, or at least extend their unbeaten run to three games.
West Brom will be up against a side which has picked up just one point so far this term and sit bottom of the standings, and Diangana will hope to add to his one league goal this season.
Although Albion and Fulham played out two draws in the Championship last season, Parker believes the Hawthorns side is stronger than they were in 2019-20.
Nonetheless, he had especially kind words for Diangana, who was on loan at West Brom last season before signing him permanently for a reported £18million.
“West Brom have spent a bit of money, they’ve brought in a couple of front half players, one who was there last year, and I think we’ve all seen his quality – a fantastic player in [Grady] Diangana,” Parker told the Fulham website.
“The boy [Karlan] Grant has added some experience as well, so they’re definitely an improved team. I think it’s got the makings of a very good game, I sense it will be a very tight – and a very good – one.”
Diangana was superb for West Brom last season and it was surprising to see West Ham cash in on him – indeed, captain Mark Noble was “gutted, angry and sad” that he had left.
Things have been a bit trickier for the 22-year-old this time round, with the Premier League a lot tougher than the Championship, but surely it won’t be long before he and his teammates get to grips with life in the top flight.
