West Bromwich Albion are lining up a £3.5million bid for Brentford’s talented midfielder Romaine Sawyers and have proposed a £7m deal for Bristol City forward Bobby Reid.

Albion expect to lose Jay Rodriguez and Salomon Rondon with Burnley and Newcastle United respectively among those showing interest. Albion have also rejected a £4m bid from Stoke City for James McClean.

Albion boss Darren Moore wants to bring in players accustomed to the Championship who can develop and take the club up.

Skilful Sawyers, 26, started out in West Brom’s academy and was named Players Player of the Year at Brentford last season.

Although he got onto the bench for the Baggies in the Premier League, Sawyers was released in 2013 without having made a competitive senior appearance for the club. 

Reid scored 19 goals for Bristol City and helped them reach the Carabao Cup semi finals.

The 25-year-old was named in the PFA Championship team of the year.
