President Yoweri Museveni has today paid his last respects to the former Minister of Tourism, Maria Mutagamba, at the Parliamentary building lobby in Kampala.

Parliamentary Speaker, Rt. Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, 1st Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Leader of Government Business in Parliament, Gen. Moses Ali and the Government Chief Whip, Ruth Nankabirwa, received the President.


Mr. Museveni, who laid a wreath on the casket of the late Maria Mutagamba, later met family members of the fallen former Minister at the Parliamentary Building. The family members included her children Martin Mutagamba, Marian Mutagamba and Michael Mutagamba.


Others in the meeting were Mr. and Mrs. Muthiani, Mr. Paul Kyabaggu and the Deputy Head of Public Service Commission, Ms. Hilda Musubira.

The Former tourism minister Maria Mutagamba succumbed to liver cancer on Saturday evening at a Kampala hospital has been described as a hard working leader who worked to transform many lives.

During a requiem mass held for the deceased former minister and long serving MP at Rubaga Cathedral in Kampala.

Mourners described Mutagamba as a committed leader dedicated to service above self. She will be buried on Wednesday at her ancestral home in Gamba village, Rakai district.

Her mortal remains will be laid to rest tomorrow in Rakai district.
