Manchester United star Martial has been tipped to leave Old Trafford at the end of the current campaign.
The France international is supposedly disillusioned with life at the club following Alexis Sanchez’s arrival from Arsenal in January.
Express Sport understands that, though Jose Mourinho has dismissed the notion of signing another attacker, Real Madrid’s Bale remains on their radar.
Yet the Manchester Evening News say Manchester United do not want Martial to jump ship.
The forward was terrific at the start of the season, when he was jostling with Marcus Rashford for a place on the left flank.
As recently as December, he looked to have finally won that battle with a brilliant goal in a 1-0 win over Burnley a standout moment.
However, since Sanchez’s arrival, Martial has looked a man transformed.
Everybody expected Mourinho to stick Sanchez on the right, so good was Martial’s form.
But the 54-year-old has thrown a massive curve ball by deploying the former Arsenal star on the left instead.
The MEN say Martial is arguably the Red Devils’ best finisher.
And, despite his attitude sometimes being questioned by Mourinho, the United boss has no plans to sell him.
Should he leave, however, Martial is likely to be inundated with offers.
Serie A champions Juventus reportedly want to sign him.
And Premier League duo Chelsea and Arsenal have also emerged as potential suitors.
