Real Madrid will appoint their new coach this week, and Clarence Seedorf is the latest to have been offered as a replacement for Zinedine Zidane.

The French coach walked away from the club 11 days ago and the European Champions want his replacement installed before next weekend.

The former Dutch international and four-times Champions League winner, Seedorf, is being considered by the Bernabeu board who must decide between a safe option or a bold move for a younger manager this week.

Madrid have looked at a staggering 17 possible replacements but many within the club are now backing Michel as someone who is available, has La Liga experience, and is a Madrid man.

The former Spain international played over 500 games for the club and would be accepted by supporters.

Other voices at the club are urging president Florentino Perez to go for a someone who can bring the same charisma as the departed Zidane.

The name of former Dutch international Seedorf has been put forward in the last few days. He failed to keep Deportivo up last season but he took over at a point in the season when the club were already resigned to their fate.

Former Real Madrid midfielder Guti and Danish coach Michael Laudrup also remain in the running.

Perez has still not completely given up on his first choice Pochettino but Sportsmail understands the deal remains impossible.
