Wilfried Zaha has accused Manchester United and Liverpool fans of calling him “a black monkey”.
The Crystal Palace winger posted the message on an Instagram story after his side beat West Brom in a friendly in Hong Kong.
It read: “If Man United and Liverpool fans feel better by calling me a black monkey in my messages .. feel free to carry on if it makes your day better.”
Zaha played for United between 2013 and 2015 before returning to Palace for a second spell.
His new manager at Selhurst Park, Frank de Boer, earlier accused West Brom’s players of deliberately targeting his winger.
The Dutchman said: “Of course when it’s a fair challenge for me it’s not a problem but for example for Wilf Zaha they were really looking for him, to injure him and we can’t accept that.
“I think if you want to sell the Premier League you have to do the job to avoid these crazy kind of challenges.”
West Brom’s Allan Nyom was booked after 33 minutes after a number of fouls on Zaha. The former Manchester United wideman was also involved in clashes with Baggies stars James McClean and Claudio Jacob.
De Boer added: “I saw some signs of wanting to bring the beauty of the game here and the beauty of the game is not those kind of challenges.
“He’s one if the exciting players of the Premier League. I don’t want to think that he’s out for a couple of weeks or months.
