In an email to all URA employees on Friday morning, the Commissioner General of Uganda Revenue Authority, Doris Akol, has reshuffled and moved over 8 Assistant Commissioners to different departments.
The Transfers are as follows
Ms Robinah Nakakawa, who is reported to have received more than Shs 200 million in presidential handshake, has been moved from Large Taxpayer Office to Service Management. Mr Sirajji Kanyesigye from Compliance Management replaces her at Large Taxpayer office
Ms Irene K Bashabe moves from Tax Investigations to Compliance Management while Mr Mathew Mugabi who has been serving as Executive Assistant to Commissioner General goes to Tax investigations.
Ms Sarah Banage who has been serving as Assistant Commissioner Public and Corporate Affairs was moved to Ms Akol’s office where she will be serving as Executive Assistant to the Commissioner General. She has been replaced with Assistant Commissioner (AC) Human Resources, Vincent Seruma.
Mr William Kiganda from Process Management to Human Resources while Mr James Odong has been transferred from Service Management to Process Management.
She further moved Mr Joseph Mwangala from the Customs Audit to Internal Audit and replaced him with Joseph Oketcho.
Ms Akol also moved a number of managers at the tax body to different departments.
Though its said that this is move is meant to boost efficiency at the tax body, it should be noted that that Some URA employees have been showing an attitude of unhappiness after it emerged that some of their colleagues had benefited from the “handshake
The Parliamentary Committee on Commissions Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises investigations are still on going.
