Patients suffering from respiratory and non-communicable illnesses such as breast cancer, cardiovascular diseases and diabetes can now access medications at less than four thousand shillings -per-month from Swiss pharmaceutical company Novartis.
The special offer is to patents who have been struggling to access medications non-communicable diseases (NCDs) like breast cancer and respiratory infections.

Dr. Harald Nusser, the Head of Novartis Social Business signed the agreement in Kampala with Ministry of Health Permanent secretary, Dr. Diana Atwine on Wednesday.

Atwine said that the company had agreed to sell the non-communicable diseases drug to Uganda at a price equal to the cost of producing them. She said patients will be able to get doses of medication at one dollar per month once.
