The 300 ruling party Members of Parliament converged in Entebbe on Monday morning to pick 6 candidates out of the 43 contesting for the regional parliament.

The process has been postponed until tomorrow 2: 00 pm when new ballot papers will be brought.

Choas and disagreements rocked the legislators who accused the    Tang Odoi of giving them wrong information about the election.

The process was earlier delayed by contentions in the electoral guidelines presented by the party electoral commission chairman, Dr. Tanga Odoi.

The Members of Parliament from Karamoja had protested the separation of Kampala from Central and making it a distinct region.

Consequently, President Yoweri Museveni appealed to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) aspirants not to consider the forthcoming elections as an employment opportunity but as an opportunity to serve and participate in the integration of the East African Community.

“These elections are a serious matter. It is about electing people who know what is involved in integration.” The President said.

The President made the remarks today while addressing the NRM Parliamentary Caucus ahead of their election of party flag bearers for the EALA.
