Brig. Gen Taban Geoffrey Kyabihende, the veteran NRA/UPDF soldier No. RO/00094 passed on, on Monday morning.
Gen Taban was admitted at Nakasero hospital on Wednesday last week before slipping into a coma and put on life support.
According to the family members, the soldier succumbed to cancer which he had been battling and a liver problem.
Kyabihende, 56, was among the first 100 NRA soldiers. He was also among Gen Yoweri Museveni’s first seven bodyguards under late Fred Rwigyema.
The others were; late Capt. Marious Katungi, Maj. Gen. Pecos Kutesa, late captains Aziz Bey and Kasasaira.
Gen Taban was the Deputy Commander of the 3rd Battalion that captured Kampala in 1986.
