Manchester United fans name their replacement for Matic, Liverpool fans name England’s best player and Chelsea fans says goodbye to Hazard – all in Your Says of the Day.
Agree with jc.. personally would prefer Sancho but apparently he favours a move back to Manchester and isn’t prepared to move right now. From what I’ve seen of Pepe he’s similar to Mane but is better with his close control. If we do get him I can see Firmino being moved to the #10 role with Salah up front. Still want to see Wilson given a go though. If there’s so much hype around dan James, Wilson is a far superior player.
These Pepe rumours have been gathering pace these last few days. Think there is defo something to them. Whether we seal the deal or not is another thing. HEs lightening quick with tonnes of end protect and can play in more than on each position across the front 3. Certainly ticks a lot of boxes.
Wilson, while scoring/assisting plenty in the c/ship, doesn’t have the pace I don’t think.
I was just reading the echo about our transfer window and it seems that we’re being prepared for a quiet window awith no expensive signings expected.
Id be very very disappointed if the club goes down this route. We should strike when the iron is hot and right now liverpool is probably the most attractive football club in the world for players. We could practically get anyone whos available atm. The nicolas pepe bruno fernandes would wanna come to us. There is no better time to buy players.
Watched the England game yesterday. TAA by far the best player on the pitch and England’s only creative outlet even when moved to LB. Those who make the argument that he looks better for us because of our front line can go do one. Class act..
I love TAA, there have been many different suggestions for why we failed to win the title but for me it was when he went off injured we struggled and as soon as he came back we found our fluency again.
But for all that in 5/6/7 years time I don’t see him playing right back. He plays there more so out of necessity just as much as he does because he is a bloody good right back.
In the years to come, I think we will see him mature and maybe get the chance to do a Gareth Bale and eventually turn from full back to attacking midfielder.
TAA is the best attacking right back in the PL and probably Europe too. I’ve really been impressed with how Robertson’s come along too what a bargain. They both bring so much to Liverpool offensively.
Couple of diamonds you’ve got there lads although TAA could take his game to another level if he improves the defensive side of his game a little too.
nine nine nine
I’d prefer Carvalho over Matic.
We’ve been linked with him since he was about 19/20. But he must be mid to late 20’s now.
He is one of those who blows hot and cold but does a lot of the dirty work in the team and has the physically to stand up to the toughest opponents.
I think his mixed form is the reason he has not been picked up.
Carvalho is 27 and has been at certain level clubs all his career, there is a reason for that. Flash in the pan, will throw a couple of good games in now and then. If this is the level of players we go for then we may as well just keep what we have.
Regardless of if he is better then Matic or not, being better doesn’t mean he will provide much difference, lots of fans are saying we should sign such a player because he is better then a certain player we have, but being better doesn’t mean he is United standard or will improve our team.
@happyhurling – The debate has been and still is … have the Glazers spent E N O U GH. Points like not moving on deadwood fast enough and keeping old players too long are NOT changing the argument. They are INDICATIONS of how the club is working to a tight budget so simply won’t make sufficient funds available to move them on and replace because that would cost M O N E Y. I’ve asked you several times for alternative explanation for why we don’t move them on but you have ignored my question repeatedly. Probably because you don’t have an answer.
Now Reece is reported to have broken his ankle last night, strange how our best young players are getting serious injuries and not for the 1st time either. Not sure if this can be a coincidence or a case of they not built like they used to be.
Bakayoko wants to come back, has he much improved since he when out on loan in Italy?,is it worth having him back or do we take a hit flogging him cut-price if we can?.What do we do with Kovacic, use him again or send him back to Real?.What do we do with Morata who is another one living on borrowed time with us surely?.Jose touted on Sky to be coming back if and when Sarri goes…third time lucky?,I think he’s lost the Medusa Touch and is not so Charismatic now in my humble opinion.
Good luck to Hazard in his new challenge. many players has played and left but the club stood. i appreciate his services to the club. you don’t get more than 6 years from skillful players, but got more at least 7. so at 28 the time was right for him to seek a new challenge. likewise the time is also right for the club to build a new look side. i will be interested to know who our team will be built around. if that is CHO, then that means a long term solution. give him the no 10 shirt and 8 year contract. for the last two seasons since we lost Costa, we become completely dependent on Hazard for goals. so let us now focus someone else. a new core of mostly young English players had been emerging towards the business end of last season. RLC,CHO and Barkley. as well as Rudiger and Kepa could form the back bone of the team in post Hazard era. and we also have Pulsic and Abraham to add.
Now our next focus should be to conclude this Sarri uncertainty. if he is keen to leave just release and appoint his successor in days. we can’t afford managerial uncertainty for the second summer in a row.
The fact that the club have appealled from the transfer ban to CAS suggest they have a clear picture about who will be in charge and will dip in to market. to get one or two signing mostly RB i think as Azpi is showing signs of decline. and centre forward now that Higuain has left. there are no indications that Kovacic formed any part of the Hazard deal. i’m led to believe it was a straight cash upfront. and there is no mention of his future. i wouldn’t be too keen to take Asensio either as we have a total of four wingers.
One boy from Lille excites me. Nicolas Pepe is doing fine in france. and the last time we had done business with Lille. it was an ispired one. infact our only flop from that league in recent times was Bakayoko. Drogba, Essien, Azpi and Hazard were all from there. and him plus CHO on both flanks would be a nightmare for any fullback. pace and trickery will be in abundant. also Christensen has shown this season whilst fragile he could be relied on. the more games he played the more solid he was so no need for a CB. a leftback and right back should Alonso and Zappacosta leave.
and i beg your pardon for my rants there. 😊
Total class in everything he does. His twitter account page now says he plays for Belgium ( Chelsea has been removed which is fair enough) and makes no reference to Real Madrid yet even though number 7 Real Madrid shirts in his name are already on the rack being sold and the club have announced him on their website. Next season I am going to be super busy because I will also be cheering on Hazard in every game he plays. If it means success for Real Madrid then so be it. Chelsea number one priority as always 🙂
