Thirteen-time Uganda Premier League winners KCCA are a distant 10th, five games and 17 points adrift of leaders Vipers, not entirely because of the continent engagements or irregular performance but also because the league organisers’ deplorable flaws.
That hurts, and hadn’t they come out bravely to request to play the Police match – proposed to be postponed by UPL because of the ‘Cranes Regional tour’ – they were in for a long wait at the time they needed immediate consolation for the Caf Confederation dismissal.
Mutebi minced no words whilst making his ire known to the powers that be.
“I’m sorry about sometimes the things Fufa is doing. Sometimes they are not really understandable.
“Cranes Na Mutima’, what does it bring to the table as far as football development is concerned rather than just going to visit?” Mutebi, a-say-as-it-is-tactician, fumed.
KCCA, that last played on October 22 against Maroons, returns to league action against Abdallah Mubiru’s distressed Police that lost 1-0 to URA at Njeru on Tuesday. By press time, KCCA were supposed to lose the bedrock of their team – Charles Lukwago, John Revita, Mike Mutyaba, Muzamir Mutyba, Samuel Kato and Nicholas Kasozi to Cranes tour but Mjutebi remained buoyant they would still win today at StarTimes Stadium.
“We have players like Filbert Obenchan, Steven Sserwadda, Hassan Musana and Keziron Kizito that can fill their gap,” he said.
Even when 2005 winners Police occupy the basement, Mutebi has maximum respect for Abdallah Mubiru’s side – for they are a potential banana skin.
“The log may say something else but they play good football, we are ready for them and they are going to give us big challenge,” he added.
Villa hoping for more Bombo fortunes
Third placed SC Villa that subjected Tooro United to a 4-1 humbling at Bombo Barracks Grounds on Wednesday will unleash the same fire when they clash with Bright Stars that has won once this season – against Onduparaka. The Jogoos coach Edward Kaziba is expected to build on Wednesday’s two-goal hero Ambrose Kirya and David Owori to break down a rather stubborn Bright Stars side.
