There’s no reason to feel embarrassed about moaning in bed, in fact it’s actually a good thing.

Making noise during sex does actually make it more pleasurable and even helps you reach the finish line, according to experts.

In fact, by emitting noises we let our partners know that we’re having a swell time under the sheets.

Dr Zhana Vrangalova, an NYU professor of Human Sexuality, told Refinery29 that we make sex noises “because we want (our partner) to be happy and because we want them to know we are doing something right to make them happy”.

And moaning could be a good way to guide our partners into what we want more or less of.

One study found that people of all genders who moan during sex are having a better time.

It found that sex noises helped people to feel more confident and satisfied in bed – unlike talking.

Giving instructions didn’t unnecessarily mean that couples were more sexually satisfied in the end, but moans and screams did.

So why do we moan?

Dr Aaron Ben-Zeev wrote in Psychology Today: “A major benefit of sexual noises is that – if genuine – they demonstrate that the partner is not indifferent; in this sense, any noise is better than complete silence.”

He says that making sex noises is part of something called “arousal transfer”.

For example, make-up sex happens after a fight, with the high arousal state associated with the argument is transferred to the high arousal state of sex.

For women, there are ways to have multiple orgasms.

The Lovehoney found that 75% of women have climaxed twice or more in a row.

It could be down to getting in the mood and stimulating the clitoris.
