Manchester United target Fabinho has made it clear that he wants to leave AS Monaco over the next few weeks.
The Brazilian was strongly linked with a move to Man United – as well as Paris Saint Germain and Juventus – earlier this summer but vice-president Vadim Vasilyev has insisted that the club will not let the midfielder or Kylian Mbappe leave.
He featured during Monaco’s opening weekend win over Dijon but has grown frustrated at not being allowed to speak with other clubs and even stormed out of a training session earlier this month.
And Fabinho, speaking on the subject of his future, spoke of Monaco as if they were a thing of the past.
“I feel good, there is nothing to say about my situation, the club knows my will,” he said. “I hope we will continue this way and that Monaco will still be okay.”
Are the wheels coming off at Monaco? It certainly looks that way. Crucial players like Bernardo Silva, Benjamin Mendy and Tiemoue Bakayoko have already left for the Premier League and Mbappe was left out of the side over the weekend amid links of an impending move to PSG.
And Fabinho’s feelings are clear. Can a club really keep a player against his will? Jose Mourinho is focusing on signing a winger during the window’s closing stages but surely couldn’t pass up the opportunity to land the talented 23-year-old.
