Kampala Capital City Authority ( KCCA) has started registering farmers in Kampala. This was revealed during the launch of a book which contain companies which manufacture agricultural products today at city hall in Kampala.
Sarah Kanyike, Deputy Lord Mayor for Kampala city said the they have started registering farmers in Kampala according to their specialization in agriculture.
Kanyike added that they want to promote farming in Kampala as well as farmers through financial help which will increase food production in the city.
At the launch entrepreneurs who sell agricultural products took advantage to plead to Members of Parliament to pass laws that can convict people who manufacture fake products.
Nangulu Moses, the chairman of entrepreneurs who deal in selling agricultural products said that they face alot of problems convicting people who make counterfeits like fake pesticides, non treated seeds and other equipments which cause loss to the farmers.
“We can’t take those crooks to police because even the police needs laws concerning the act yet there is no single law concerning counterfeits in agricultural products,” Nangulu said.
