The Ugandan Government has informed radio owners to change their mainly ‘political’ programming and ensure to have all-round journalism and programmes.

While officiating the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) annual general meeting at hotel Africana on Thursday morning , the Minister of ICT and National Guidance Frank Tumwebaze pointed out  that people need information that inspires them rather than provocative.

“Radio leads in changing society. Let’s be careful when pushing out content because people need information that inspires them,” Tumwebaze said.

He added that Programming should not only be political but also  have agriculture, tourism and other shows.

“I appeal to you to demystify your programming, every show on radio upcountry is political. Let’s change this,” he noted.

Tumwebaze  later advised that Correct journalism is anchored on knowledge and truth, before radio stations  push put any content they need to first check facts about it.
