Gary Neville heaped praise on Eden Hazard after the Belgian playmaker scored Chelsea’s second goal in the 3-1 win against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.

Chelsea took the lead in the 13th minute in west London when Marcos Alonso headed home from close range after Petr Cech parried Diego Costa’s effort into his path.

The Blues headed in 1-0 up at the break but it was not long before Hazard doubled their lead in the second half.

The Belgian skipped past the Arsenal defence and fired past Cech to make it 2-0 to the Blues in the 53rd minute at Stamford Bridge.

Substitute Cesc Fabregas then made it 3-0 in the 86th minute when he lobbed Cech after a misplaced pass from the Arsenal goalkeeper, before Olivier Giroud nodded home a late consolation goal for the visitors.

It was a superb solo goal from the 2015 PFA player of the year, and former Manchester United defender Neville had nothing but praise for Hazard.

Speaking during Sky Sports‘ coverage of the game, Neville said: “The goal is absolutely sensational.

“He puts Francis Coquelin on his backside… the resilience, the strength…

“And then once he’s in the box it’s a nightmare for Arsenal.

“It’s brilliant from Hazard, it’s wonderful.”

Chelsea’s 3-0 win lifted the Blues 12 points clear at the top of the Premier League table as they took another step towards winning the title.
