Police has intercepted Suspected armed robbers at City oil gas station, Kamwokya.

One person has been shot dead while two were injured; the victim died when he was being rushed to Mulago hospital.

Police also say they have two AK47 rifles, two pistols from the suspects and  seven suspects arrested .

Charles Oshel, a guard attached to Security Group Uganda SGA, says he received a tip off from his friend from the Criminal Investigations Department on Monday that some thugs had planned to rob the City Oil pump station using a vehicle registration number UAJ 546J.

Some of the suspects have been identified as Douglas Kintu, Khalid Ogwal, Nicholas Baguma Francis, Robert Okello, Frank Lukwago, and Tony Nume all from Nansana.

According to another security guard at the station, the men in the foiled robbery attempt were armed with two AK 47 rifles and 2 pistols and they were travelling in a grey Toyota Noah minivan that had no number plates.

The security guard also claims that the owners of the petrol station had been tipped off of the planned robbery and they had called in the police to boost security. The robbers got to the petrol station at around 2pm in the afternoon and a shootout with the police ensued.

Two people, one robber and one City Oil staff member, were injured in the shootout. The other robbers surrendered and they were subsequently arrested by the police and taken away to an unknown destination.
