What Is Ligature Over Head Online Challenge TikTok?

Ligature over head is said to be an online challenge on Tiktok, which could possibly be the Passout Challenge that got viral in 2021. Ligature means the strangling force of something other than the person’s complete body weight.

This strangulation, which can be done in various methods other than vertical hanging, shuts blood flow to the brain. In the vast majority of cases, this results in lifelong brain damage and, in rare situations, death.

Ligature is most commonly done by wrapping something around the neck and applying pressure from a “tie-off” point. For example, a patient may tie off to something lower, even at the floor level, and then lean away from the ligature point, according to Behavioral Safety.

There are several challenges online that could be dangerous and life-threatening. Unfortunately, much news on the internet talks about the cases where people try these challenges and face a disability or sometimes death.

Especially teenagers or young children are influenced easily and may try dangerous stunts at home. Thus, authorities have been trying to make the parents aware of these incidents and look at their kids’ online activity from time to time.

Archie Battersbee Accident Details- What Happened?

Archie Battersbee was found unconscious at his home in Southend, Essex, on 7 April.

Doctors at the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel in east London said he was “brain-stem dead” and his life-support should end.

Archie’s parents Hollie Dance and Paul Battersbee disagree.

Judge Mrs Justice Arbuthnot was told during a three-day hearing in London that tests showed no “discernible” brain activity.

First, his mother said they believed it could have been a rare accident, but later, she thought it could be some type of internet challenge.

She also added that she received a call from someone who said they had heard about boys wearing ligatures over their heads as part of an internet challenge. But, the matter is not disclosed yet, and no confirmation about the child trying some kind of challenge has been confirmed.

She also added that she is unsure if it is true, but she still wants to make other parents aware and ask the investigators to investigate it.

She also uploaded a video where she claims his heart is still beating and shows her son holding her hand firmly. Thus, she wants the treatment to go on.

But, the hospital asked the court to take him off the life support as his brain stem is 50% damaged and 10-20% of the cell have died or decayed, as per Sky news.
