Who was Shane Warne?
Shane Warne died at the age of 52 in Thailand last Friday. Fans of the iconic leg-spinner were shocked at his sudden demise because of a suspected heart attack.
Shane Warne death cause
Shane Warne was holidaying with his guy friends at the Samujana Villas resort on the Thai island of Koh Samui, he was however, found lying face-down in his hotel room.
Shane had eaten Vegemite toast as his last meal hours before his death after being on a very strict, only-liquid diet for 14 days straight. Sporting News chief executive, Tom Hall was one of the friends Warne was on the vacation with.
His friend Hall noted that the Australian cricketer received a massage from two local masseuses at his villa and ordered a new tailored suit. He then shared a meal of Vegemite toast before going upstairs to speak to his children. That was the last time Hall saw him alive.
Another friend, Andrew Neophitou found him unresponsive in his room and frantically performed CPR on him for 20 minutes in a desperate attempt to save him.
An emergency response unit arrived shortly after carrying on the CPR for a good 10-20 minutes longer, but to no avail.
Thai Police revealed on Saturday that the carpet at the foot of Warne’s bed was found to be stained with blood. Found nearby were three blood-stained towels and one blood-stained pillow.
Police Colonel Yuthana Sirisombat told reporters on Saturday night that his family had informed them of the late cricket legend’s history of heart disease and asthma and their concern about his health before he left Australia last week.
The 52-year-old had recently “seen a doctor about his heart”, Sirisombat said.
Erskine was unaware of the extent of those issues, saying: “I didn’t know about that. I did know from Helen, his secretary, that he’d had a bit of a chest pain and also was sweating last week but I only found that later on after he’d died. I didn’t know that at the time.
“I don’t know, he obviously smoked most of his life. I don’t know, I think it was just a massive heart attack. That’s what I think’s happened.”
An Autopsy would be Conducted in Thailand
Shane Warne’s autopsy has been done already and it shows that the cricket great died of natural causes, Thai police say, as his family issued a statement saying they would accept the offer of a state memorial.
Thai police spokesperson Kritsana Pattanacharoen said on Monday afternoon the autopsy report had been received and it concluded Warne had a “natural death”.
“A large amount of blood was found in the room. When CPR was started, the deceased had coughed up liquid and was bleeding,” Polpinit told Thai newspaper Matichon.
Police also reported that Warne had complained of chest pains to his doctor before arriving in Thailand and had been suffering from Asthma and heart issues.

Shane Warne Children
Shane Warne had 3 children, Jackson, Summer, and Brooke Warne.
“To my brother, my best friend, to my Dad, I love you so much. I don’t think anything is ever going to fill the void you have left in my heart.
“Sitting at the poker table, walking around the golf course, watching the Saints and eating pizza is never going to be the same.
“So that’s what I’m going to do, try and be happy. I am going to miss you so much Dad and you were truly the best father and mate anyone could’ve asked for. I love you so much Dad, see you soon,”
Warne’s eldest daughter Brooke wrote:
“I will forever cherish our final memories together laughing and joking around with each other. We were happy,” she wrote.
“Well now I couldn’t be happier and prouder that I have your genes. I am lucky and will forever be so proud to call you my Dad forever. I love you to infinity and back and I will miss you forever.”
Warne’s youngest daughter Summer wished she could have hugged “the best dad someone could ever ask for”.
“Dad, I miss you so much already. I wish I could’ve hugged you tighter in what I didn’t know were my final moments with you. And your final breaths were only moments away,” she wrote.
“I wish I could’ve told you that everything was going to be okay and hold your hand. You are the best Dad someone could ever ask for.”
Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison on Saturday announced Shane Warne will receive a state funeral, while the cricket board decided to rename a stand at the MCG in his honour as the country mourned the loss of one of its greatest sportspersons.
