It’s official – Queer Eye is back in 2021 after a whole year and a half away from our screens! Queer Eye fans can get excited as Jonathan Van Ness, Karamo Brown, Tan France, Antoni Porowski and Bobby Berk are ready to transform 10 heroes lives in season 6.
Netflix announced that the Emmy-winning reality series “Queer Eye” will return for its sixth season on Dec. 31.
Jonathan Van Ness, Tan France, Karamo Brown, Bobby Berk and Antoni Porowski are back and helping a new group of 10 heroes rebuild their confidence.
Season six follows a special that was released on July 7 on YouTube. The episode followed a man named William Holmes who felt overwhelmed by his student loan debt. The Fab Five taught Holmes that his debt should not stop him from living a joyful life.
Based on the trailer for the new season, it looks like Van Ness, France, Brown, Berk and Porowski are picking up where they left off.
Meet Jereka from Queer Eye season 6
Queer Eye season 6 follows the journeys of 10 heroes – Terri, Angel, Josh, Navarro high prom, Todd, Jamie, Chris, Sarah, Reggie and Jereka.
Judging by the show’s trailer, she makes a tasty dish with Antoni during the show and she works for Community Allied.
Can be seen in a snippet for the show saying that the last year has been a whirlwind: “We opened the clinic, we opened the school. We started working and it’s just been going, going, going…“
Jereka’s career explored
As per Jereka’s LinkedIn page, she’s a Doctor of Education who is based in Manchaca, Texas.
She is the Dean of Specialty Programs at Central Texas Allied Health Institute. Jereka co-founded the Institute back in 2018 and as per the Queer Eye season 6 trailer, it appears that the pandemic likely left her swamped.
In 2011, she graduated from Capella University and later went on to get a certificate in surgical assisting in 2015.
Meet the Queer Eye star on Instagram
Jereka can be found on Instagram @jerekathomashockaday with over 300 followers at the time of writing, but following the series 6 premiere, that number is likely going to skyrocket.
She’s married and looking at Jereka’s IG page, her husband, Ben, celebrated his 39th birthday in 2021. Together, she and Ben have a young son named Carter.
Jereka is 41 years old and, by the looks of her IG page, she’s very family-oriented and also enjoys cooking, so Antoni is likely to enjoy spending time with her during season 6!
Where was season 6 filmed?
The trailer for the season confirms that the Fab Five traveled to Texas to find their new heroes.
“We’re in Texas, everybody!” Van Ness announces in his best Southern accent a few seconds into the clip.
To fully embrace the Lone Star State, the first hero the Fab Five meet in the trailer is a two-step dance instructor named Tammy. She owns her family’s honky-tonk.
“What is a honky-tonk?” France hilariously asks.
But, it looks like it won’t take the experts too long to tap into their southern roots. Multiple shots show each member of the Fab Five sporting a cowboy hat and jeans during the season.
What can you expect from the new season?
The rest of the preview reveals who fans will meet throughout the season. We are introduced to a weightlifter who talks about their gender transition and in another scene we see a woman tearfully share that her business is struggling to stay afloat.
At one point, the Fab Five must complete the challenge of planning a prom in only one week.
“Are we going to slay this prom so hard?” Van Ness asks a couple of students while wearing a sequined black gown. “Are we gonna look better than we’ve ever even thought about looking?”
