What happened to the face of Tarana Burke? The condition of her skin has made people wonder if she has a problem in her face.
Who is Tarana Burke?
Tarana Burke is the founding member of the Me Too Movement, a social movement against sexual violence and sexual assault. Born in a working-class family in the Bronx, Burke was sexually assaulted during her childhood and teenage years. Her experiences motivated her to work toward uplifting women of color.
She penned her story in her new book ‘Unbound: My Story of Liberation and the Birth of the Me Too’.
The story in her book which focuses on the impact of sexual violence to the young girls and women had been growing inside of her for over 40 years.
Burke wanted to convey the message to the victims through her new book that the experience of the violence is not normal and the victim is not the only one who is facing the same problem.
She also wanted to tell the readers and the victims that they should not feel ashamed of what they have dealt with but believe that you are beautiful and normal the way you are and you look.
Tomorrow we kick off a series of virtual and in-person events for the release of UNBOUND! Here’s four chances to catch me on my book tour.

What Happened To Tarana Burke Face?
Tarana Burke has not revealed to the public wheather her face does have any problems or diseases.
However, she frequently talks about her childhood experience on how she was molested at a very tender age.
Growing up in Bronx, New York City, Burke was raped when she was 7, which has basically changed her life and helped the young children, women, and victims to speak up and change their lives as well.
Before the MeToo movement became a revolution in 2017 when the actress Alyssa Milano urged the victims to speak up against the sexual harassment, Burke had already started the movement back in 2006.
What gave her the courage to speak up was a heart wrenching story; in 1997 she sat across the 13 year old girl who was sexually abused which left her speechless and could not tell the girl that she was a victim as well.
Fast forward decade later, she founded Just Be Inc. which helped victims of sexual harassment.
Another ten years passed by and what happened in 2017 was a positive change towards the harassment cases i.e #MeToo movement.

What is the Me Too Movement?
In 1997, when Burke was a director of the 21st century Youth Leadership movement, she met a 13-year-old named Heaven, who shared her experience of sexual abuse from her mother’s boyfriend.
Listening to Heaven, Burke’s heart was wrenched with anguish. “I didn’t have a response or a way to help her at that moment, and I couldn’t even say “me too,” said Burke, according to the New York Times.
Later, Burke founded Just Be Inc., a nonprofit youth organization that supports women of color, in 2003, and shortly after in 2006, Burke started the me too. Movement with Black girls and women to raise awareness of sexual violence and provide necessary tools, courage, and leadership to survivors.
In 2017, following the allegations about Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein’s sexual assault, the phrase Me Too spread like wildfire on social media.
The hashtag Me Too was further promoted by actress Alyssa Milano when she encouraged women to share their experience of harassment or assault using ‘me too’ to stand in solidarity with the victims. In 48 hours, the hashtag Me Too was tweeted more than 47 million times.
