College Football Odds: Tulane vs. Tulsa
|Time||7:30 p.m. ET|
While tonight’s Tulane-Tulsa matchup will certainly trail a Cardinals-Seahawks Thursday Night Football matchup in terms of betting activity and viewership, it’ll at least have the edge in one department: wind.
And that should matter to bettors. In fact, college football games played in winds of at least 13 mph have gone 564-432-34 (57%) to the under in our database (since 2005).
The theory makes plenty of sense. Wind increases the difficulty of moving the ball through the air, cutting down on big passing plays and causing a heavier reliance on the run — the latter keeping the clock on the move for a larger part of the game. Field-goal kickers also certainly don’t welcome the extra challenge of adjusting for a breeze.
As for tonight’s game, it’s comfortably reaching that 13-mph threshold as of Thursday morning.
College Football Weather: Tulane vs. Tulsa
A 15-16 mph wind is expected in Tulsa tonight, and making it even more significant, it’ll be blowing across the field, therefore affecting field-goal attempts in either direction.
After opening at 55.5, tonight’s total currently sits at 54.5, though there’s been some back-and-forth movement in between.
