Leicester City reportedly tried and failed to sign William Carvalho in the summer.
La Razon has claimed the Foxes were in for the Real Betis enforcer, and that a €20 million/£18 million bid was tabled.
But that was way off the mark though, with the Spaniards apparently wanting closer to €30 million/£27 million for the 63-cap Portugal international.
Carvalho has been with Betis since the summer of 2018, joining from Sporting CP after coming through their youth ranks.
The defensive midfielder has made 65 appearances to date for his current club, scoring two goals and making five assists.
Whether Leicester will return for the player in January or next summer remains to be seen, but Carvalho has enjoyed a rise to prominence under Manuel Pellegrini, and is now one of Betis’ most important players.
BGA’s View – One to keep an eye on
Carvalho is definitely a player for Leicester to keep tracking.
The 28-year-old is tailor-made for the Premier League with his fantastic physical qualities.
And although Leicester won’t welcome it, there could potentially be interest from other teams in Wilfred Ndidi later down the line, with the Nigerian star having seen his stock soar in recent years.
If Leicester felt like cashing in for a huge fee, which would definitely be possible given Ndidi’s quality, Carvalho would be a solid replacement.
