Glasgow Rangers newcomer Bongani Zungu put in a superb display for his country on Friday night, earning praise from Ibrox fans and international supporters alike.
The Gers signed the South Africa ace on a season-long loan deal from French second-tier club Amiens earlier last month, with the option to make the 28-year-old’s deal permanent next summer.
Following a period of self-isolation, he linked up with the Rangers squad in training at the end of the month, the day before their Europa League meeting with Lech Poznan at Ibrox.
Zungu has made one Gers appearance to date, coming on as a second-half substitute in the 8-0 Premiership win over Hamilton last time out, and also made the bench for the Poznan game.
With the international break halting Scottish top-tier proceedings, Zungu put in an impressive performance in Friday’s 2-0 win over Sao Tome and Principe in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying.
Brought on off the bench, he put in a hard-working display, pulled the strings in midfield, and capped it off with the second goal, a 90th-minute header from Keagan Dolly’s corner.
Here is what some Bears made of Zungu’s performance:
Well done Zungu, watched some of the game on YouTube and felt you changed the game when you come on, unlucky not to get an assist also. Can’t wait to see you at ibrox soon showcasing your skills 😀

South Africa remain second in the Group C table following the win, but they are now three points behind leaders Ghana.
