Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity brings a whole new chapter in the iconic Legend of Zelda series, but how long does the game take to beat, and how long will it keep players occupied?
As Zelda fans continue to wait patiently for the promised sequel to Breath of the Wild, Dynasty Warriors developer Koei Techmo is providing a prequel game set a hundred years before the Switch launch title.
Koei Techmo’s musou games tend to be lengthy with a lot of bonus content to unlock, and from the sounds of it, Age of Calamity is no exception.
How long does Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity take to beat?
According to How Long To Beat, completing Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity along with some side missions will take around 28 hours.
That said, this is based on a single player’s experience – as the game hasn’t been released yet, only those with review copies are playing at the moment. Further data won’t be available until Age of Calamity is in the hands of more players.
28 hours for the main story plus additional missions sounds similar to the size of the previous Hyrule Warriors game, and about half the time it takes to complete Breath of the Wild, so while Age of Calamity is not an overly enormous game, there’s plenty to keep the player busy.
When will Breath of the Wild 2 be released?
In announcing Age of Calamity, longtime Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma gave an update on Breath of the Wild 2. Apparently, the game is still in active development, but it is taking longer than intially anticipated, meaning that the team doesn’t have any new footage to show at this time.
Considering that the first Breath of the Wild was in active development for over five year, and during that time Nintendo had very little actually gameplay footage to show off, it’s likely that Breath of the Wild 2 is still a long way from completion.
In the meantime, fans can take the opportunity to tackle Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, as we probably won’t be seeing more of Breath of the Wild 2 until 2021 at the earliest.
