New Kids on the Block Co-Founder Donnie Wahlberg has continued the #2020tipchallenge, leaving a very generous tip for a waitress at a cafe he frequents.
Wahlberg, who stars as Danny Reagan in the drama series Blue Bloods, added a US$2020 tip to his US$35.27 lunch bill at Marshland Restaurants & Bakeries in Plymouth, Massachusetts.
The restaurant shared an image of the bill on Instagram: “A very special thank you to our friend @donniewahlberg!” the post read. “When asked about it all he said was ‘who’s up next?!’”
Wahlberg always has the same order and asks for the same waitress, owner Marty Finch told People magazine.
“Donnie has been here before in the past and he always asks for (Denise Andrews),” he said.
The waitress always remembers his usual order of steak, grilled asparagus and poached eggs.
“When he left, he just said, ‘Denise, you’re all set. The payment is on the table,’” Finch said.
“She always says he’s a very good tipper anyway but her jaw dropped, to say the least, when she saw that amount of tip.”
Andrews split her tip with the other staff at the restaurant.
The #2020TipChallenge is a trend that started in Michigan in January when a server at Thunder Bay River Restaurant received a US$2,020 tip on a US$23 bill. On 2 January, Wahlberg and his wife, The Masked Singer host Jenny McCarthy, also left a US$2,020 tip for an IHOP server in their hometown of St Charles, Illinois.

On 5 January, Harry Styles, who was on holiday with friend James Corden and Adele, left his own US$2,020 tip on a US$472.50 bill after a group dinner.
