Arthur Masuaku has replied to a Tottenham Hotspur fan on Twitter following West Ham’s enthralling comeback to draw 3-3 with Spursr – after the substitutions of Gareth Bale and Manuel Lanzini were compared.
Despite Bale’s second debut for Spurs, Lanzini stole the headlines with a stupendous first-time shot from 25 yards that completed a 10-minute comeback. Tottenham had been winning 3-0 with, with 80 minutes on the clock.
Son Heung-min gave Spurs the lead after cutting inside from the left, before Harry Kane made it two with an excellent effort that flew past Lukasz Fabianski. It was three after 20 minutes, when Kane headed home his second.
Kane hit the post, Bale had a glorious chance after coming on – but Spurs still looked comfortable. But the fight back began when Fabian Balbuena expertly headed home an Aaron Cresswell free-kick. It was two moments later.
Good work from Andriy Yarmolenko and Vladimir Coufal saw Davinson Sanchez head into his own net. With seconds remaining, a free-kick was cleared but only as far as Lanzini. His strike flew into the top corner.
Pandemonium ensued – both on the pitch from the West Ham players, and on social media from supporters. A Spurs fan compared the introduction of Lanzini to that of Bale, and Masuaku responded – teasing the Spurs supporter.
