Miley Cyrus and Cody Simpson split after 10 months together following her divorce from Liam Hemsworth. Miley Cyrus and Cody Simpson have ended their romance.
The reason behind their breakup remains unclear at the moment, sources close to the duo told the site.
However, Miley Cyrus has addressed reports she has split from her Aussie boyfriend of almost a year, Cody Simpson.
Taking to Instagram hours after break-up reports emerged, the singer told fans she was taking control of the narrative before confirming they have indeed been spending time apart.
Explaining that “two halves can’t make a whole”, Miley, 27, revealed the two were “working on” themselves individually, and said it was likely they would continue to be photographed “hanging out” given they’ve been friends for a decade.
“A year ago, almost to this exact date, the media tried to tell my story for me, and control my narrative, and I’m just not accepting that,” she began in an Instagram Live ahead of the release of her new single.
“So today, it came out that me and my boyfriend have broken up,” she said of 23-year-old Cody.
“It was confirmed by a “reliable source” even though no one is reliable in a relationship except the individuals who are participating in it, but right now, two halves can’t make a whole and we’re individually just working on ourselves to become the people that we wanna be, like everybody else at this age.”
“We’ve been friends for 10 years and we’re going to continue to be friends, so just don’t make it something that it is not,” she said.
The two singers seemed head over heels for each other, but it sounds like the relationship simply ran its course for the 27-year-old songwriter. “I’m hearing that nothing major happened, no other party broke them up,” the insider continued. “She had a lot of fun with Cody, but she decided it was best to go their separate ways and remain friends.”
She looked particularly smiley, while standing next to an unidentified friend, before entering the home.
Although they are most known for their romantic link, Cody and Miley have had a close friendship since 2015.
