Unova Week is has arrived in Pokémon Go, and that means that a lot of Roggenrola are about to descend upon the game. For one week only, it’ll be (relatively) easy to catch a shiny Roggenrola and evolve it all the way up to its final form, Gigalith.
Roggenrola was first introduced in Pokémon Black and White, and is native to the Unova region – hence its inclusion in Pokémon Go’s Unova Week. The Pokémon evolves twice, first into Boldore, and then again into Gigalith.
With Unova Week comes the opportunity not just to lay hands on an abundance of Roggenrola, but also its shiny alternate colour palette.
How to catch shiny Roggenrola in Pokémon Go
During Unova Week, both regular Roggenrola and its shiny variant will spawn frequently in the wild. What’s more, Roggenrola (shiny and otherwise) will appear in Pokémon Go raid battles across the week.
Unova Week runs from 21:00 BST (13:00 PDT) on August 14th until 21:00 BST (13:00 PDT) on August 21. All through this week, Roggenrola will spawn frequently in the wild and appear in raid battles.
In order to get your hands on a shiny Roggenrola, participate in raid battles, and try to catch every available Pokémon you spot in the wild – you never know when a shiny is going to appear. Plus, you’ll be needing a lot of Roggenrola candy.
How to evolve Roggenrola into Gigalith
If you want to evolve Roggenrola into Boldore, and then again into Gigalith, you’ll need two things: a lot of Roggenrola candy, and a friend.
It takes 50 candy to evolve a Roggenrola into a Boldore, which means catching at least thirteen of the Pokémon (more if you’re not going to transfer spares to Professor Willow).
Evolving Boldore into Gigalith is an even bigger task, requiring 200 Roggenrola candy – although there is an easier way. Boldore evolves via trade in Pokémon Go, so if you can swap with a friend, you won’t need any extra Roggenrola candy at all.
Hunt down enough Roggenrola during Pokémon Go’s Unova week, and you might just get lucky and find a shiny. It’ll certainly be worth the effort.
