Pokémon Go is in its final Ultra Unlock of August named Unova Week. This follows Enimga Week which gave players the opportunity to catch a shiny Staryu to evolve into Starmie, but there’s a bunch of other new shinies now available to catch. With Oshawott and Snivy both a part of Unova Week, some people are asking whether they are shiny captures, and here you’ll discover everything you must know including how to catch both of them.
Know in advance that Pokémon Go Unova Week only lasts until August 21st where it will finish at the hours of 13:00 PT, 16:00 ET, and 21:00 BST. There’s the possibility for you to catch a glistening Genesect as well as Roggenrola, so there’s plenty to do during the event’s seven days.
However, when it comes to Oshawott and Snivy, are they shiny captures during Unova Week or are they just normal?
How to get Oshawott and Snivy in Pokémon Go
You have increased odds of getting Oshawott and Snivy in Pokémon Go while Unova Week lasts.
This is because their spawn rate in the Wild is increased with the event focusing on Unova Region Pokémon.
In addition to Oshawott and Snivy, the following creatures also have their spawn rate increased (via Leekduck):
Neither Oshawott or Snivy hatch from 7km Eggs, so you’ll have to encounter both of them purely in the Wild.
Is there a shiny Oshawott and shiny Snivy in Pokémon Go?
There is no shiny Oshawott or shiny Snivy in Pokémon Go for Unova Week.
Both Oshawott and Snivy have increased spawn rates to help you catch them, but neither are a shiny capture for the final Ultra Unlock of August.
This has disappointed some of the community who were hoping for glistening variants of the Unova Region creatures.
But, although disappointing, there are still plenty of shinies for you to capture including Roggenrola and Lillipup.
