King Charles Wesley who has been remanded to Luzira prison for treason of fences will have his trial proceedings in Kasese. The DPP has said.
Irene Nakimbugwe, the Deputy Spokesperson of the Directorate of Public Prosecution, says the King and his subjects were transferred from Kasese to Jinja Magistrates Court with permission from the Chief Justice.
Appearing before Jinja Chief Magistrates Court this morning, Mumbere and 161 Royal Guards were presented with a list of 41 counts of crimes allegedly committed between March and November 2016 within the Rwenzori region.
The suspects including 19 women and 4 juvenile who were arraigned before the Jinja Chief Magistrate John Francis Kaggwa alongside their king Charles Wesley Mumbere who was charged with similar offences earlier.
The accused are said to have expressed such a plot by utterances and acts such as attacks on various police attachments, killing police officers, robbing firearms and ammunitions, recruiting and training individuals to join an armed rebel outfit plus attending meetings abroad and attempting to acquire.
The suspects have been remanded to Kirinya and Bugungu Government Prisons until December 28th.
