UPDF High Command today met at State House Entebbe amidst tense security situation in the country.

The meeting which began this morning has taken a whole day, and from what we understand, it has been a tense meeting.

There is a pile of issues in the military including senior officers such as Leopold Kyanda who have fingers pointing at them as having involved themselves in security bleaching scandals.

However, the issue of Kasese raised voices as there was clearly a group in the top military leadership that believes the situation would have been handled differently.

The meeting takes place ahead of expected security reshuffle in the top military leadership.

In a related development, the police spokesperson, AIGP Andrew F. Kaweesi while addressing the media at police headquarters Naguru today  has said that, the joint operations in Kasese are still ongoing to ensure that the security and calmness are restored.

He has reiterated that whoever participated in the Kasese criminal violence will be held responsible for their actions.

He warned people to be vigilant as we head towards the festive season.
Kaweesi said that, crime tends to go up during the festive season. Therefore he appealed to the general public to be very vigilant, limit carrying hard cash because this has always been an attraction to the criminals.
He has added that police is yet to issue fire works guidelines during the festive season.
