The Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) has started the preparations of Kampala – Jinja expressway project that is going to help the congestion on the kampala- jinja road.
UNRA says that the Kampala –Jinja expressway project will be a significant infrastructure investment responsive to the needs of the travelling public across the region.
Allan Ssempebwa UNRA public relations manager says that Kampala – Jinja expressway project will be a world class expressway and the first of its kind in East Africa.
“This project is expected to generate upto 1500 jobs during the construction and 250 jobs during the operations, majority of which will be taken up by Ugandans.” Ssempebwa says.
UNRA further adds that in order to achieve the objectives of this project they are going to seek bids from private sectors to design, build and finance the expressway as this project is among their top priorities and vision.
