” Uganda, Africa and the world have lost a very honourable, loyal and reliable friend/comrade in Fidel Castro” president Museveni has said.

The president said that as a leader of the July 26th Movement, he redefined Africa’s path to self rule and eventual independence in the 1960s and 70s by supporting our liberation movements.

“He fervently fought imperialism and provided direction and counsel to majority of liberation movements on the African continent. Fidel Castro was a friend, brother and leader. My sincere condolences to the people of the Republic of Cuba”, added president Museveni.

Cuba’s former president Fidel Castro, one of the world’s longest-serving and most iconic leaders, died aged 90.
His younger brother and successor as president Raul Castro announced the news on state television.
Castro toppled the government in 1959, introducing a Communist revolution. He defied the US for decades, surviving many assassination plots.
His supporters said he had given Cuba back to the people. Critics saw him as a dictator.
