Manchester United enjoyed almost the perfect day at Old Trafford on Saturday as they beat Newcastle 4-1.
This despite the fact that Manchester United conceded their first Premier League goal at home all season.
Dwight Gayle put Newcastle in front but back came Manchester United with goals from Anthony Martial, Chris Smalling, Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku.
The undoubted icing on the cake was the injury returns of Pogba, who was excellent, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who had been out for 212 days.
Jose Mourinho continues to be linked to PSG
The Sunday papers this morning link Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho with a move to PSG.
In what could well be a way to pressure Manchester United, Mourinho is apparently on PSG’s wishlist to replace Unai Emery.
This has been reported for some time and appears linked with what Manchester United will do in the January transfer window.
5 big names to keep Mourinho happy
Manchester United remain confident of holding onto Mourinho and Joe Bernstein reveals in the Mail on Sunday that there are four major targets to keep The Special One happy.
Bernstein writes: “And the club are happy to follow his transfer targets with Valencia playmaker Carlos Soler, Sweden winger Emil Forsberg, Antoine Griezmann and Gareth Bale all being monitored. Cristiano Ronaldo, 32, is regarded as an unlikely recruitment because of his age. Interest would depend on Real Madrid being willing to accept a knockdown transfer fee.”
The rumours of Ronaldo and Bale to Manchester United simply never go away. Expect to hear both of them for many more months.
Signing Emil Forsberg from RB Leipzig and Carlos Soler from Valencia feel like real possibilities.
Antoine Griezmann reportedly has a deal with Barcelona already wrapped up for next summer.
After yesterday’s win over Newcastle, it will be intriguing to see how many players Manchester United move for in the January window.
