Kavuma Court Order a bad Constitutional precedent – Law Society

Uganda Law Society President Francis Gimara says, Kavuma interim order: “The order sets dangerous constitutional precedent with serious negative effects on the functioning of the legislative organ of state.

Gimara has also blamed parliament for glossing over reservations raised by the Judicial Service Commission over Justice Kavuma’s re-appointment as Deputy Chief Justice.

The law society has vowed to challenge the court order but cautions parliament and all decision makers to learn from this incident about the need to strengthen the vetting process for the appointment of judicial officers.
