David Mpuuga, a former contender for the Kooki County Parliamentary seat has scoffed as his political rival Boaz Ninsiima Kasirabo’s plot to challenge his ejection from Parliament.

On Friday, Mpuuga successfully challenged Kasirabo’s victory when High Court in Masaka nullified the outcome of the February 18 parliamentary election on ground of electoral fraud.

He contended that Kasirabo used the influence of soldiers from Masaka Armored Brigade to intimidate voters, beat his agents and later conspired with the Electoral Commission to rig the election.

Results released by the Electoral Commission indicated that Boaz Kasirabo garnered 12,672 votes to beat David Mpuuga who polled 11776 votes. But Mpuuga accused Kasirabo and the Electoral Commission of falsifying declaration forms to deny him victory.

Boaz Kasirabo has since indicated that he would challenge the ruling in a higher court. But David Mpuuga, his challenger said that the appeal would be a waste of time.
